MONDAY MAGAZINE ✹ New!





Been hearing about this new mag recently and last Monday (hah!) I was finally able to get my own copy. Nice and heavy–just the way I want it! This new magazine focuses on "corporate culture, consumerism (!), and lifestyle". Opening the magazine, my first impression was wow, really cool magazine! I just found the cover to be a little too subdued for my liking, but hey it's just me. For their premiere issue, they have four (!) covers. Its cool features, articles, and design (really love the design!) is really worth its PhP300 price tag (of which, I wonder why, was not printed on the cover). Run, don't walk and check out Monday Mag–something that'll surely make any artfashionliteradesign junkie and maghag's heart go doki-doki.

PREVIEW ✹ April & May 2010






Reviewing Preview makes me sound like a broken record cause month after month there's always something good to say. Yes there are a few things here and there that's not my cup of tea but overall I find it a really amazing mag. As always, the April and May eds are supernice and inspirational! Life Aquatic is so far my fave editorial; the type play, so so nice. And oh cheers to BJ Pascual for his first Preview ed Billy Jean! (Check out his site for more inspirationalfashionphotography goodness.) If you're looking for something inspirational and sulit every month, you can't go wrong with Preview. Now, if they will only make Preview Homme or Preview Man...

STATUS ✹ April-May 2010





I don't get every issue of Status cause I sometimes find it too hipster-ey for me (not that it's a bad thing of course...just saying..hehe). But when it's something artey/fasyon-ey, consider it sold. I must've seen his works before but I only got to know about So.Me here. Also in this issue are the ff: Leeroy New, Friendswithyou, an Art Basel photo diary, and many more hipster stuff hehe. ROGUE ✹ April & May 2010






Like Preview, reviewing Rogue also makes a broken record out of me. Every issue is as good, if not better than the last. I just wish they'd have more features like a regular design column (hah!) or more editorials hehe but that's just me. And oh, yes, 1000 props to the Illustrated Guide to Skincare! Rogue's "Illustrated guide to" is a really nice bonus to every issue–the illustrations, tips, and overall look and feel (and the use of different paper!) is worth checking out. My PhP180 for Rogue is PhP180 well spent. Especially for the May issue, my favorite cover so far—love the colors and it's not brownish like 80% of all Rogue covers! ✌

MEGA ✹ April 2010





About time Mega did a design, look, and feel revamp! I have to say though–it's still Mega, only better. And while everybody noticed how over photochopped Kim Chiu is (yes methinks it really is), I noticed the cover changes! (read=typophile) Not the bestest bestest ever but when you see change–good change–it just makes you smile, no? Inside, it's also a visual treat. Liked the new look and the eds! I especially liked Comic Relief. My two thumbs up for the long-overdue redesign. For May, I'm skipping Mega. The cover is nice but nice isn't the best word to use to convince my Olga Sherer levels thin wallet. haha Belt-tightening times y'all! Booksale is my friend so see you in about 3-5 months hehe. I've seen nice changes and I'm okay with that. Now if they will only put Coco Rocha (or a really really really fierce I-will-not-skip-this-one kind of cover) then I'll go for gold and be like "broke? What broke?"

GARAGE ✹ April-May 2010








I loved this issue's editorials and features. The thing the I'm not so sure of though is the cover ed and heck, the cover itself. Is it trying to be really fasyon and commercially viable at the same time? Or probably the right look on the wrong person? Or is it the other way? Other than that, I found all the eds to be really good. I especially loved Deep Blue, Break Free (another BJ Pascual editorial! Blue chip ha!), Mission Militia and Tribal Wave. Also in this issue: the Lexus Showroom (iLove), an article about Energy Drinks (nice read), Sam Pinto (she so young, only 20 pala!) and more.
